The design of a hookah is more complex than it might seem. It might seem like such a large structure could possibly contain a screw without which its functionality would be limited, but it turns out it does. This component is the purge valve ball. It's very small, practically invisible, but when you purge the hookah, you can hear the characteristic sound the ball makes as air passes through it. This small part is often lost, so we recommend keeping a few balls as a backup, even immediately after purchasing a new hookah.
