The fruit should be medium or large and ripe, but definitely not overripe, as the orange must withstand high temperatures, and an overripe fruit will simply fall apart. The ideal orange has a firm peel and a solid core.

Furthermore, we need an orange with a minimal amount of seeds, otherwise, the smoke will have a slightly bitter aftertaste. It is best to choose the Cadanera variety – it is completely seedless. If the store does not specify the variety name, it is best to take several fruits and choose the one with the fewest seeds.

Orange Bowl for Hookah – Step-by-Step Instructions

To prepare an exotic hookah with an orange, you will need to:

  1. Wash and thoroughly dry the fruit with a paper towel. Then, you need to cut off the top with a sharp knife so that the pulp is clearly visible – this should be done in one motion, ensuring smooth cut edges.

  2. The soft pulp of the fruit should be removed with a spoon, leaving a small layer at the bottom. You don't need to try too hard – it is enough to blot the remaining pulp on the walls with a napkin to remove moisture.

  3. On the bottom of the orange, make a neat hole for the stem (shaft) with a knife – it should fit into it as tightly as possible. For this, we recommend making a small hole first and then carefully widening it if necessary.

  4. On the bottom of the bowl, make a frequent grate with toothpicks – it should hold the tobacco mix.
